Summer Oatmeal

My entire family loves oatmeal. I prefer homemade oatmeal compared to instant oatmeal, but that doesn’t mean that if you look in my pantry you won’t find instant Quaker Oatmeal. If we don’t make instant we have Strawberry N’ Cream or Maple Brown Sugar on hand.

I am going to share with you my favorite ways to make stovetop oatmeal.

What you need:                                                                                  Yield: 2 Servings

1 C. of Oatmeal (quaker, or any other brand)

1 3/4 C. Milk (or water)

1/8 tsp. Salt (I always omit the salt)

1/4 C. Light Brown Sugar

1/2 tsp. White Sugar

1 tsp. Cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Bring your milk or water to a soft boil. If you use milk stir quite frequently, make sure not to burn your milk. Once it’s at a boil add your oatmeal. And stir. If you like salt, put it in at this point.
  2. I always wait about 5 minutes before adding in my brown sugar, white sugar and cinnamon. Make sure you really incorporate everything in really well.
  3. Once everything is mixed in, hot and the oats are soft. You can serve it.

 

I love adding blueberries to my oatmeal, but this is how we make our oatmeal. Depending on the time of year will determine if use blueberries. If you decide to make this let me know what you think!
