My New Breakfast

So I took the plunge the other day and bought a Smoothie maker…well a Ninja Smoothie maker to be exact. For months I have been wanting to get into drinking smoothies for breakfast, but I could never talk myself into buying one. I always found something else came up that my money needed to go towards that was more important….(cough cough Sophia).

I found my Ninja Smoothie maker at target, with a gift card, saving up a little for it…

They had one on sale! I snatched it for a steal!

So, since I am absolutely new to the whole smoothie making process…I am looking at you for some advice!

What combinations do you like?

What are your favorite healthy smoothies? I am not opposed into adding Kale, Spinach and Probiotics. I do want to pick up Flax Seed, I heard it’s a good choice to add some extra Fiber to your diet….right?

Do you have any recipes to share? I will be brutally honest, it has to taste good. Nothing funky or gross…not something that will make me gag.

My First Recipe

1 Whole Banan

2 Whole Strawberries

1/2 Cup of Light & Fit Vanilla Yogurt

1 Cup of Vanilla Almond Milk

**blend everything all together**

Are those bubbles normal at the top of my smoothie? If it was Creme Brûlée I would just take a blow torch to it.

Advice: When making Creme Brûlée…homemade that is….before you put it in the oven to bake, take a blow torch to it to remove the bubbles on the top of it (don’t be flaming Freddie..a back and forth motion real quick.). Unless, the bubbles don’t bother you…then leave them. But I can’t stand bubbles at the top of Creme Brûlée.

One of my favorite parts about my Ninja maker is it has a “Smooth Boost,” option. It makes your smoothie extra creamy. Ahhhhh I love it. I really dislike when you can taste chunks in it, especially ice chunks. Eh, the thought of it makes me cringe…like nails down a chalk board.

This is Sophia earlier today before school drinking a smoothie….a Banana and Strawberry one! She loved it, she actually finished mine. I figured if she didn’t like it….at least I would get an honest reaction. She doesn’t hold back.

How do you like that crazy morning hair?

One of my goals this summer is to make awesome smoothies for breakfast with fresh fruit and other healthy ingredients.

Hey! Do you know any dessert smoothie recipes? I am a totally dessert girl….

Had to ask!

I would love your smoothie advice and recipes!

I should have a smoothie party on Instagram Live..we can sit around…drink our smoothies or coffee…and BS! That would be fun! Right?

Anyways, have a Greeaat (as Tony the Tiger would say… much coffee) & Safe Friday!

Spring FabFitFun Box Reveal

I have been awaiting for the arrival of my Spring Fabfitfun box! And to my surprise is was waiting in my mailbox for me to come home from running errands. That’s right waiting for me..

The first thing I noticed was the box! I love the bohemian look! The color and design is so much fun and perfect for Spring. I couldn’t wait dig in…I may have left the groceries on the floor so I can open it up…I wish I was kidding. My inner 5 year old child came bursting through the moment I saw this box.

I am going to do a review of what I received in my box….

**If you have not received your box….please don’t let my review spoil your surprise, so don’t scroll down**

And the fun begins….(One last chance not to peek, if you’re waiting to receive your box)

The goodies….at first glance my eyes were drawn right to the bright blue bottle… care? Please!

I love…love…love skin care! I definitely heard of Dr. Brandt, but never tried it. I have really sensitive so I am particularly picky about what I used. I can’t wait to try this! Have you ever used this brand before? If so, what are your thoughts?

I never heard of this brand until I received this box. I am curious about how the shade may look on me, and how long it lasts for. I may have to do a review on this (tired of reading the word “may ?”)….considering I don’t wear a lot of nude colors. I don’t think I can ever find one for my skin tone that I like without look washed out..make sense?

Oh yea! This is definitely coming with me to Hawaii next month! I hope it doesn’t make my hair greasy. I never used this brand before nor have I ever heard of it, but I will definitely give it a whirl!

My skin “sooooo,” needs this, probably more than anything right now. My skin to me has been feeling really dull recently, especially just getting over being sick. I don’t know about you, but I swear being sick makes my skin more dry than ever or blah. Plus, Pittsburgh weather doesn’t help much for skin or even catching a flu.

I love Deborah Lippman nail polish. I remember seeing it in Sephora and could never justify the price of 19.00 dollars per bottle. So, this was definitely a surprise…and I can’t wait to try them out! Like A Virgin is the white (left bottle) and Shape Of My Heart (right bottle)..I think I am going to try Shape Of My Heart first….I don’t know though….they both are such pretty, fun, spring colors!

Hello Love…..where have you been all my life? These two will be going to Hawaii with me! They are so dainty and trendy! Plus, in rose gold…love!

I remember seeing these blankets last summer and never bought one, but I am so excited that Fabfitfun has decided to put them in their Spring boxes. How fun! This Boho blanket is going to be perfect when Sophia and I do picnics this summer! Plus, you could see this as a future photo backdrop…just sayin’.

I am so excited to try these gummies. Have you ever tried Natures Bounty brand before? I heard really positive reviews in the past about this brand, but never tried it..until now. I always forget to take my vitamins…I should probably set an alarm on my phone.

The best part about this wristlet..right wristlet? Well, that’s what I am calling it….it’s waterproof! And perfect for the beach! I secretly think Fabfitfun has been watching me and know that I am going to the beach soon, because half of this box is coming with me!

I am super pleased with this box! And I can’t wait to dig – in and try some of these products!

Do you receive the Fabfitfun boxes? Did you received this 2017 Spring Box?  If so, what are your thoughts?

I can’t wait for the Summer box!

Madison Ave-Hue

Spring has Sprung! At least on my nails it has!

If you followed my blog last summer you may have got the impression that I am a Essie and Seche Vite fan. If it wasn’t for these two brands of nail polish I probably wouldn’t wear any. Unless I would do weekly trip to the nail salon, if it was in my budget.

I highly recommend these two brands when doing an at-home manicure and pedicure. They just work well together.

For me chipping doesn’t start for about a week, sometimes even longer. Truth be told, I am anything but kind to my hands. They are constantly fixing something, being washed or cleaning…and I am one that always forgets to moisturize them. It’s something that I remember to do right at that exact moment before I am about to pass out…and it’s to late…sleeps trumps all.

The color I chose to do is Essie’s Madison Ave-Hue…I loooove it! It is the perfect Spring and Summer pink. Just absolutely beautiful. If you are looking for a candy pink with a purplish undertone…then this is your winner. It will not disappoint!

I always put two coats of Essie Nail Polish on and the Seche Vite Top Coat. What I love most about the the Seche Vite Top Coat, is when you do two coats the end result has a gel-like finish. It even has a gel-like texture too it. Which I love!

Definitely gives the illusion I went out and got my nails done, so it’s a win-win in my books!

Do you have a favorite Essie shade?

Weekend Thoughts

It’s currently raining out..almost midnight…and I have my last load of laundry in the washer…my whites to be exact. I am highly anxious to be officially done with laundry…well for a couple of days at least.

While waiting for my eternity of laundry to be done, definitely had my mind wondering about our near future trip to Hawaii for two weeks in April. What seems to be boggling my mind is the amount of time we are in the air. I mean…I have been there several times in the past, it’s been close to ten years! But this is Sophia’s first trip to Hawaii. She does really well traveling whether it be by car or plane…except this is going to be the longest trip confined in a small space for an exceptional long period of time.

Let me say…she always did really well flying in the past, but the longest amount of air time was about 2 hours max. Not a total of about 13 flying hours.

Mama is worried!

I plan on bringing some of her toys…her iPad…but I would love some suggestions on movies or games that I should download for her.

I am totally open to any other entertainment suggestion that is 2 and a half year of age appropriate of course!

Here I am about 8 years ago in Hawaii. I remember taking this photo…I was waiting for everyone to get ready to go out. My mom always made me go to the room about 45 minutes before everyone else so I could get ready. She said I took to long….*Probably still thinks that*

Sophia has been in KDO for about a month now and absolutely loves it. Which I am totally grateful for. I am happy that she is not one of those kids that cry for their parents as the drop them of. Le me tell ya..if that was Sophia should wouldn’t be going. I don’t think I could walk away from her crying especially calling my name and reaching for me. They say they stop once you leave, but from my experience not so much.

Do you have any lunch suggestions? Sophia loves her vegetables! She is not a picket eater by any means.

But how can I make her lunch more fun and healthy without looking like an ad for your basic food groups?

If you have not tried Starbucks Strawberry Refresher with Coconut Milk in replace of water…Go. Do. It! It kind of tastes like candy…but not toothache sweet…but it’s tangy.

Reminds me of summer!

Isn’t this just the cutest? I would so have one in my backyard!

A must have plant in my house is an Aloe plant. I can’t tell you how many times I have burnt my hands from taking items out of the oven…grease spitting at you…or even grabbing the wrong part of my hair straightener.

Aloe works on everything! Go get yourself an Aloe plant and help yourself out!

Okay so this is probably the creepiest thing I will ever write on here, but I am a huge fan of Kate from The Small Things Blogshe is my favorite blogger out there. Last week she was going live on Instagram and I did a screen shot of her…no I don’t have a Kate shrine…I’m not a weirdo..but…

I love her haircut! I am considering cutting my hair this length before Hawaii. I wanted to take this photo to my hairdresser to show her the cut I like.

I am such a creature of habit.

The thing is I grew my hair out from in inverted bob back in December 2015 it took a good 9 months. My hair is about to the middle of my back, but I constantly wear it pulled up in a messy bun. I think I need a change again…not as dramatic as a inverted bob but something a little bit more fun. A little shorter but not short. Plus, I am been getting headaches because my hair is so long and heavy..

I am so indecisive.

Kate if by any chance you read my blog..sorry for the creeper screen shot of you!

Even when I am feeling like total crap, this little girl brightens up my day and always puts a smile on my face. I love you Sophia! I have a great weekend with you!

I hope your weekend was a great one!

Where Did I go?

I am currently under the weather, I have been for the past few day with a terrible cold. It is making me very irritable and I am highly annoyed already. Honestly speaking this has been my 6th cold since January.

However, for the first time in my life I did get the flu shot…it’s supposed to help right? Well, about a week after I received my flu shot the news stated “there was batch of them that was defected..” I think I received one of those…

I am highly rethinking about getting the flu shot in the future. I have never been this sick so often until I got the flu shot.

So I am hoping by Sunday to be better or a least on the road to recovery. With that in mind I am going to try my hardest to get a few more posts up this week. I had some really fun posts planned but they have been put on the back burner…thanks cold!

It’s been a really rough cold, plus running after a toddler who is like the energizer bunny doesn’t make it easier.

Do anyone have any home remedies to share?

Ps: The photo above is my moms Amaryllis…isn’t it beautiful? My mom has such a green thumb!

Links & Loves & Thoughts

I thought it would be fun to do an unusual photo. Normally I try to more serious photos, but today I am in the mood to spice things up a bit…like me in cat ears.

If you don’t follow me on snapchat you can find me at Sarah_Bellalife it might be a good idea will get to see behind the scenes of my life… it’s anything but perfect and I even do baking tips as well. I love trivia, so when I know something fascinating…I share. Sophia and I are going to Hawaii in April, so you will definitely want to follow me, because I will be doing a lot of travel clips. get back to the point of this photo…if you are anything like me Target is my second home. I really wish I wasn’t being serious about that. Target has everything I could ever need.

Have you ever heard of Bauble Bar? Well, if just so happens that Sugarfix by Bauble Bar is now being sold there…and that is where I scored those tassel earrings that I L.O.V.E.

If you haven’t noticed tassels are now trending, I have not jumped on that ban wagon until these earrings.

I was really torn with some of the color options to choose from, but this year I am really into green colors. I am taking after by bestie Charnaye…every time I think of green I think of her…

Now onto links:

I bought these Nike Womens running shoe  (not that I run) a little over a week ago. They are the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn….I want every color. I did end up with the white ones, they didn’t have my size in the black at the store. Any know any white shoe protectant?

Ever hear of Better Life BagsAh, it’s so cool…you can design your own bag. I have been eyeing this website for about six months. Check them out!

I am in search for a great Cherry Pie Recipe…I thought this one looked promising. I have never been much of a Cherry Pie person…until I had one that way to-die-for back in January. Now I am determined to make one from scratch…and hopefully love it. Do you have a recipe to share?

My dream vacation

I am currently sitting at a local Starbucks while Sophia is in school writing this post. Across from me is this group of men, it’s so cute (maybe not) to ease drop into their conversation. The fact that they are just sitting there talking about sports (particularly the Pittsburgh Steelers), their wives (nice comments) and politics is just awesome. And they aren’t ripping each others heads off either for having a different opinion. Amazing huh?

They are in their own world, completely enjoying each others company. I just love it.

I think a mini goal of mine this summer is to have a girls day with some friends I have not seen or “hanged out,” with in a really long time.

If you are curious I am drinking a Chai Tea Latte…they say tea gives you more energy than coffee right?

Unicorn Hot Chocolate

For about a week Pittsburgh has been more snowy and cold than it has been all winter long. Just a few weeks ago we hit 78 degrees…it was heaven, but I must admit I am really anxious for April. With the cold weather upon us still…..

I thought it would be fun to put a twist to your normal Hot Chocolate and make Unicorn Hot Chocolate. Plus, I knew that Sophia would just love it.

Ingredients: **I doubled my recipe**

2 Cups Whole Milk

1 Tsp. Vanilla

1 TBSP. Granulated Sugar

4 ounces White Chocolate, chopped

Food Coloring

Whipped Cream

Pastel Marshmellows

Color Icing (in the baking isle)

  1. Put your Milk, Vanilla, Sugar, White Chocolate, Food Coloring in a pot and allow to get hot. Stir it until everything is melted.
  2. Put your icing around the rim of your glass mug…add sprinkles on the sides of the mug. Pour Hot Chocolate in the mug..add Whipped Cream to the top along. Add Sprinkles.
  3. Use your imagination & enjoy!

I used the Sweetpolita Carousel Sprinkle Medley and I also took some Rainbow Marshmallows from Sophia’s Lucky Charms cereal! If you have never checked out Sweetpolita sprinkles I highly…highly recommend it! I want a bulk bag in every Sprinkle medley she has!

This was a lot of fun do to, the only thing is I wish I would have used my Wilton Gel Food Coloring instead, it would have made my purple Hot Chocolate brighter.

I am going to bombard your with Sophia photos now….

Her first time eating snow…

I guess it wasn’t a good as it looked…

If you make your own Unicorn Hot Chocolate I would love to see your photos or anything your create!! You can send them to my Instagram at Sarah_Bellalife or my email
